Vanilla Chai Old Fashioned Drink
Ingredients
Simple Syrup Chai
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 4 chai tea bags
- 1/3 cup of original maple syrup
Chai Old Fashioned
Soda water, for topping
- 1-2 ounces (2-4 tablespoons) chai tea syrup
- 2 ounces (1/4 cup) bourbon
- 1 ounce of lemon juice
- 1 drop of bitter orange
- Cinnamon and star anise, to be served
Instructions
Simple Syrup Chai
- In a medium saucepan, boil 1 cup of water. Remove from heat, add chai tea bags, cover and steep 10-15 minutes. Take out the tea bag and add the maple. Bring to a boil over high heat. Boil 3-5 minutes, then remove from heat. Stir in the vanilla. Let it cool store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

- In a cocktail shaker, mix bourbon, lemon juice, bitter orange, and 2 tablespoons of chai syrup. Shake to join.
- Strain it into a glass. If desired top with soda water. Garnish with cinnamon and star anise.
